Gregory Claeys

As professor of the History of Political Thought at Royal Holloway, University of London, Gregory Claeys is what one might call an expert on utopian and dystopian ideas. Since receiving his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1983 he has dedicated himself to the study of British radicalism, socialism and utopianism from 1750 to the present, not just as professor but also author and editor. Moreover, he has held a Senior Research Fellowship in the History of Ideas Unit at Australian National University and is chairman of the Utopian Studies Society. Gregory's latest book "Dystopia: A Natural History" even won him the Cantemir Prize in 2018 for contributions to humanistic scholarship.
